YouTube has been designed many times in designer’s imaginations and Photoshop, some successfully, some not. Of the most recent ones I’ve seen, one sticks out for me clearly. Apostol Voicu has come up a design that not only simplifies Youtube’s often confusing layout, but also designs the site to bring it in line with Google’s new Material Design direction.

Featuring a bigger focus on videos and clearer icons on the video layout itself, the design it stark and simplistic – exactly what is needed to watch a video. Nothing catchy and nothing over the top. With hidden menus on both the left and right (Youtube Menu on the left and Suggestions on the right) Apostol has redefined the design of YouTube in his design and it would be refreshing to see this live in action.
