Skype is like the friend in school you love to hate, and hate to love. Often forgotten and left behind, they’re always there when you need them, no matter how bad you thought they were. Skype is like that for a lot of people. A chore to use, an eyesore at times to look at, but still old faithful when it comes to video calls with clients, companies and family. Pijus Aleksandraviĉius imagines what Skype would look like given his way.

Taking a much cleaner, more iOS 7 inspired look, Pijus’ version of the Skype tablet app is much, much cleaner, and more friendlier for users with a lot of friends and messages. Bringing in a dedicated sidebar to calls, instant messages and requests, this version adds in more detail without sacrificing the aesthetic of the app.

I think “eyesore” is a bit of a stretch? It looks great on Windows Phone and Android. Most importantly it is reliable.

But the above design does look nice, and wouldn’t look out of place on Windows either. It definitely has that modern .net feel. Much like MetroTwit or Prepros.
